To physically distort my face in this series of shots I contoured my skin through using cello tape. I also pulled on the cello tape whilst it remained on my skin to create a further level of distortion. Rather than using studio lighting in this shoot, I used a standard floor lamp with the shade removed, which worked just effectively in illuminating my face and creating a reinforced shine to the tape. As I only lit the shots from one side, hard lighting is present which reinforces the contoured and distorted effect in which I have created.

Similarly with the first set of images I chose to express a facial distortion through using a close up angle, though in this series my model is physically pulling at his face rather than the distortion of my own face with cello tape in the first series. I chose to use subdued lighting in this shot and when processing decreased the brightness and contrast partially. This created a more sombre tone which reinforces the expression and distortion of the model's form.
Pulling at strings.
In this shoot I chose to construct a physical manipulation of the human form, using a flexible wire. I fee this process creates an interesting set of images as present above, as the string allows for diverse contouring effects. Moreover, as my model had control of the strings the images evokes an added tone suggesting torment and entrapment. This tone is amplified by my model's pained expressions in the shots.
These images were shot with a 50mm lens which creates a shallow depth of field within close up portraiture. This is particularly effective as it pulls the viewers attention attention to the distorted appearance of my model's face, with a soft blur surrounding. The natural colours and tones in this shot are reinforced by the natural lighting I chose to use.
